Nikolai Mishchenko's debut solo piano album “Amberflection” presents a special vision of contemporary improvisational music, which reflects the influence of impressionism, minimalism and jazz. The album consists entirely of original compositions written over the past few years. In each of them, Nikolai tells a story, looking for a combination of hidden, often conflicting colors. Ravel's influence can be traced in the compositions Shtil’ and When Spring Comes, and the composition Knock on the Door is inspired by the style of the American pianist Fred Hirsch. Despite the obvious influences of different composers and musical styles, Nikolai adheres to a unique sound in his playing and continues expressing musical thoughts in a new way.
